Based on the provisional data of Statistics Lithuania, in April 2012, the turnover (VAT excluded) of the enterprises engaged in retail trade, except for the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, amounted to LTL 2087.5 million and, compared to March 2012, decreased by 0.8 per cent at constant prices, while seasonally adjusted it decreased by 0.6 per cent. Over the month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products grew by 0.3 per cent, of those trading in non-food products ? decreased by 2.4 per cent, while of those engaging in retail trade in automotive fuel ? increased by 0.4 per cent at constant prices.
In April, the most noticeable decrease in retail trade turnover was observed for retail sale of books (by 21.1 per cent), textiles (17.9 per cent), furniture, lighting equipment and other household articles (12.1 per cent) in specialised stores.
In April 2012, against April 2011, the turnover (VAT excluded) of enterprises engaged in retail trade grew by 1.5 per cent at constant prices, working day adjusted ? by 3.1 per cent. Over the year, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products decreased by 0.5 per cent, of those trading in non-food products ? increased by 5.9 per cent, while of those engaging in retail trade in automotive fuel ? decreased by 3.1 per cent at constant prices.
Over the said period, the most noticeable increase in turnover was observed for retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet ? by 46.6 per cent, specialised stores trading in clothing ? by 18.7 per cent.
Over the month, the turnover of enterprises engaging in the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles grew by 3.2 per cent.
In April 2012, the turnover of enterprises engaged in the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles amounted to LTL 651.1 million and, compared to March, increased by 3.2 per cent at constant prices. Compared to April 2011, their turnover grew by 3.9 per cent at constant prices.
Over the month, the turnover of food and beverage service enterprises dropped by 4.3 per cent
In April 2012, the turnover (VAT excluded) of food and beverage service enterprises amounted to LTL 79.3 million and, compared to March, dropped by 4.3 per cent at constant prices. Compared to April 2011, their turnover grew by 11.5 per cent at constant prices.
